Cisco Unified IM and Presence Post Install Setup for 9.X – AXL Integration with CUCM

By | February 13, 2017

I’m so happy to post the Cisco Unified IM and Presence post install setup configuration guide here. The reason being said that its little hard to find simple and hassle free IM and Presence guide from the internet.

Of course, Cisco does excellent documentation for every technology, but we can’t expect configuration guide with screenshots and other minor steps. This article is the Part 1 which falls in the Cisco Unified IM and Presence deployment guide series.

Cisco Unified IM and Presence also called as Cisco Unified Presence Server (CUPS) till 8.X version. There are lot more changes implemented on CUPS and by the time 9.X releases Cisco adopted the name Cisco Unified CM IM and Presence. 10.X onwards, IM and Presence server is considered a subscriber of CUCM PUB.

Note: The post install setup is not required from 10.X version onwards, you may skip this step and go directly to Step 2 (coming soon), there is no post install configuration required. 10.X installation is exactly like how do we add a SUBSCRIBER to the existing cluster. During the installation of 10.X the CUCM-PUB should be reachable and it should authenticate via database security password.
